Postmodernism: The Global Moment

CALL FOR PAPERS
This multi-disciplinary conference will examine the issues surrounding the concept of Postmodernism, particularly in its global form. The topic of Postmodernism has been hotly debated over the past thirty years and the object of the conference is to draw out the varying approaches, definitions, working hypotheses and synergies the term has attracted. In addition to examining the concept of Postmodernism within individual disciplines, the conference will also provide a forum in which to consider the inter-relatedness between disciplines at both the theoretical and practical level. In particular, it will provide a platform to foster the union between science/technology and the human condition in the current global Postmodern moment.

The conference is seeking original and previously unpresented papers that might include (but are not limited to) the following areas:
• Architecture
• Artificial Intelligence
• Business Studies
• Environmentalism
• Film
• Information Sciences
• International Relations
• Literature
• Modern European Languages
• Philosophy and Art
• Applied Physics
• Physics
• Politics
• Music
• Robotics
• Sociology

Proposals are invited from academics, professionals, and artists from any discipline, and offers from postgraduates are welcomed. Proposals should be sent as Microsoft Word or Rich Text e-mail attachments, and both the proposal and the e-mail should contain your name, academic or professional association, subject area and title of paper. Consideration will be given to all serious proposals, and any queries about proposals should be directed to: Dr John Scaggs, john-gavin.scaggs@mic.ul.ie.

Proposals for papers (of around 300 words) should be sent to: Rashmi Sawhney, rashmi.sawhney@ul.ie, by 28th November 2003.

All papers accepted for presentation will be published in the conference proceedings.
